Description

Trekking Pole Tent 1-Person

The Trekker Tent One is the perfect ultra-light weight one-person trekking pole tent for your next adventure. Ideal for hiking, camping, or adding to your survival bag, this compact tent is easy to pack and fast and easy to set up.

With a protected vestibule area for all your gear, this tent is roomy for one person and has a space for your belongings. The tent includes 9 lightweight red aluminum stakes, and all the guylines pre-attached, making it easy to set up.

At just 2lbs 13oz and 48 inches in center height, this tent is suitable for someone 6’4″ or under. The 38-inch wide sleeping chamber allows for ample room while also being compact enough to fit easily in your backpack or bug out bag.

The preferred way to set up this tent is with a single trekking pole, handle up. But you can also set it up without any trekking poles by tying the peak to a low hanging tree branch, which makes it versatile and usable even when you left your trekking poles at home.

Unlike other tents that come with fragile poles that break easily, the Trekker Tent One can be set up with almost any adjustable height trekking pole and is durable and can withstand tough conditions.

Overall, this is a great backpacking tent, camping tent, hiking tent, light weight tent, compact tent, and ultra-light tent. Don’t miss out on this essential item for your next adventure.

If you are looking for a one-person trekking pole tent that is only 2lbs with a different design our Trekker Tent 1A is also available for purchase and is a great alternative to the Trekker Tent 1.

Hello, I log on to your new stuff regularly.
Your story-telling style is awesome, keep doing what you’re

The tent is easy to set up , less then 3 Mins. I first used it on a over night hike in the southern Arizona winter. At night it got 29F out. in the Morning the inside was iced and the sleeping bag was wet from Condensation. I believe I set it up wrong. I will have to set it up again and see what I may have done. over all a nice tent, well worth the money.

  3. Ryan K

Really love how small this tent is and how super simple it is to set up. Used for the first time this past weekend. I did set it up on uneven ground some think I can improve shape of it more to get the most out of the space, but really is great. Quality seems very good, and hopefully holds up well in rain (though will avoid if possible!).

Include me with the many customers satisfied with the Trekker 1 tent. I think if you use trekking poles, The Trekker 1 is a great option for a light tent, with good design /materials, for a very reasonable price.
Last week I used it up in the Cascades on a backpack trip and it worked well. I really like the large vestibule and the ventilation design at the back of the tent.
I have also used the tent ‘car camping’ a couple times since July. No condensation issues in my experience.
I do have one suggestion based on a minor modification I made. Consider moving the inside pocket to the center of back side. ( I will see if I can post or email a pix of the pocket modification.)
Keep up the good work River Country Products!

I have used this tent a couple of times now and I am absolutely pleased with it’s weight and performance. It’s the perfect tent for backpacking with my son’s Scout Troop. I found it thoughtfully minimalist. 1 pocket on the inside for personal items you want close by and a small loop up top if you want hang a small battery lantern.

  6. Michael K

The tent is very well made, and I am pleased with its performance.

  7. Jake

I love this tent. It feels like it weighs almost nothing. Fairly easy to set up with the trekking pole. It does take a little getting used to being able to set it up tight and, at times, I wish that it had one or two extra stake out points in the mid-sections of the vestibule area. Customer service is great. My first tent ripped within a few uses at the connection point of the nylon in one of the corners. After sending pictures to customer service, I had a new one shipped to me within a matter of days.

  8. Dylan Byers

My brother and I both purchased the Trekker Tent 1.0 for backpacking. We are both pleased with our decision. The tent arrived quickly and was very easy to set up. It is much lighter than the 7lbs tent I was using before. I am 6 foot and lay down comfortably. There is a good enough space inside for myself and my gear. I would look at river country products in the future based off my experience with the trekker tent 1.0

  9. John

Took this tent on a section hike of the appalachian trail it worked great!!!! Real easy to set up … I liked the tent so much that I purchased a second one for my son

  10. Brad

This is one of the best tent I have ever use and through years of camping, backpacking and military service I have used many. The tent is well constructed, thoughtful design and at a great price. It has held up through heavy rain, hail and snow in the past year and half. Keep it up 👍

Just got the trekker tent 1, very easy to put up. I’m 6ft and about 290 and have plenty of room. The vestibule area is more then enough room for my bag and 90lb dog
Looking forward to really testing it out

  12. MSI Outdoors

This tent is supper, great little one man tent lightweight and packs down really small. Living in the UK we get 350 days of rain 🤪, having tested it I can safely say it didn’t leak and couldn’t see any light though the seams.

  13. Alea (verified owner)

I got this tent as a cheap way to test if a light trekking pole tent would work for me, and it’s been great! I’ve used it on several backpacking trips so far, most of which had at least a day of rain. I did not do additional seam sealing and it has not needed it.

The room in the vestibule is fantastic. I’m still playing with getting the perfect pitch as the walls do angle in more steeply depending on how you set up the tie downs and angle the trekking pole. It worked great on a buggy, hot trip where I tied front and back high to trees and bushes and left the doors and ventilation flaps completely open.

  14. Ginger McKinney (verified owner)

Got two trekker tent 1’s in blue. Seam sealed and waiting for the rain! These tents are easy to set up and super roomy (room for a human and a dog) and an amazing value and I LOVE that an American company makes them and sells them at an affordable price to make it affordable for people to get outdoors. Thank you River Country!!!

  15. Robert

Amazing value. Shipped quickly off Amazon. Took a bit of learning to pitch well but everything so far looks great.

  16. Hugh Swan

All good. Lightweight, easy to manage. Well made product. Exactly what I required.

  17. Robert Heidler

5 Stars! It’d dry!! And sets up easy. I have been thru a BIG rain storm with it and not a drop got thru, my pack and shoes were just fine in the vestibule. The seam tape on the inside of mine is flawless. I have used the Trekking poles also and they are very good also. There is a small ring inside in the peak where a light can be attached.

  18. Jennifer Haase

This tent is super easy to set up and take down. Light weight and my backpack cot fit in it perfectly!! Plenty of ventilation and the vestibule spacious enough for my large pack and shoes. Construction is top notch!

  19. Gavin C. (verified owner)

What a splendid piece of kit this is! I always dreamed of having a tipi style tent and now thanks to River Country Products that dream has come true. First off I’d like to address any concerns about seams not being sealed as I have seen some reviews falsely asserting such a thing, all seams are indeed seam taped on the interior of the tent, even in the corners where it appears some light shines through pin holes is all taped, those taped seams are enough to keep any water out, however it is worth taking the time to seam seal/tape the exterior seams to prolong the life of those precious threads that hold it all together, a single 2 ounce bottle of your choice seam sealant should be more than enough to cover every seam (including the zipper seam). Moving on to how water resistant it is, out of the box it was plenty water resistant but given that I am in Florida and intend to hike the Florida Trail during the rainy months (yes I know, everyone else thinks I’m crazy too) I really want to ensure it’s as watertight as possible. I sprayed some run of the mill tent waterproofing spray all over every inch of this tent and now it whicks water like a ducks feather! Now let’s talk about condensation, every hikers favorite step of the water cycle, it’s mostly a single wall tent so you’re gonna get condensation in the right conditions no matter what, that being said there are some handy tips listed on the pamphlet provided with the tent. Personally, in the few nights I’ve slept in it so far I didnt experience any condensation, each night was considerably more windy than the last so I reckon that played a strong role in keeping the condensation at bay, even when it rained. That brings me to my next point, wind resistance and ventilation. Given the shape of this tent, when tacked down to the ground with care I would trust it on any wind whipped day or night, the wind just goes right up and over. The ventilation is much nicer than any tent I’ve previously owned, there are screens on the front and back so if you set up perpendicular to any crosswind it’ll pass right through and act as a nice reprieve from stagnant stinky hiker aroma. Now let’s talk set up and features, it is crucial that you set this up on flat ground, if theres a dip or valley that causes each end to rise you’ll know it, the tent just wont look right. Set up could take a couple tries to get right so take your time and make note of the landscape. Personally I found the most success when staking out the outer guy lines first rather than the footprint, I like setting it up with an extended guy line tied to the top loop (the loop intended for stringing up the tent over a tree branch) and stretched far from the tent, then wrapped around my second trekking pole, then staked to the ground. Doing this means you can roll up both vestibules rather than use one for keeping the tent up, it also means you could perhaps extend your trekking pole a bit higher at the peak of the tent and use guy lines for the footprint as well so the corners arent flat against the ground. To each their own, experiment and find what works best for you! The vestibules are nice, I’ve never had a tent with any before so its killer to have that option, feels a bit more secure that way, layin down a ground sheet to act as a moisture barrier when the vestibules are staked out is a good call as well. It’s got plenty of room inside for one person, I’m 6’0 and when all lines are staked and tensioned well theres a good bit of room between me and the walls. All things considered I’m very happy with this setup and I’m going to entrust it to keep me comfortable enough during my hike of the Florida Trail, if theres anything worth noting about the shelter after I’ve watched many many moons pass by within it, in all sorts of environments, I’ll update this review. Till then, consider giving this lightweight, affordable, and downright neat tent a shot. Happy camping!

  20. Will Shim

Great tent! I like that it’s easy to set up and all-in-one system, so you can set it up quickly under the rain by just spreading it out first, stake it down, go inside the tent and prop it up with the walking pole. This can be done quickly under the rain.
It’s a tad heavier than I thought it would be, so it’s not really super lightweight for thru hiking as advertised/described in Amazon. But for the price, it can’t get beaten. I mean the next similar tent I know that weights half as much as this one costs a whopping $550!!! I’m ok with this one! 🙂

This is my main hiking/camping tent when solo. If the weather could be all over the place, I take this tent. I also own the RCP Shelter Tent 2 which is a useful piece of gear, but sometimes you just want to be sealed off from the bugs and weather. I changed a few things on mine – changed out the guy lines for reflective line, seam sealed and added additional waterproofing and I added a guy line to the peak of the tent. If you stake/guy this tent out right, you can close everything out or you can have a nice cross breeze on a hot night. I use a Six Moon Designs 49″ tent pole in place of a trekking pole and added a Tyvek ground sheet that rolls up with the tent in the bag. The included stakes are of good quality but I always take a bag of titanium stakes with me. This tent is a steal compared to the prices of other gear these days, RCP just makes great products for a great price. Recommend.

I thought a lightweight backpacking tent was out of reach for me, given all the $200+ tents out there, until I found this one. It’s half the weight of my previous tent. It’s plenty roomy for me and has that nice big vestibule to store my pack out of the elements and still have lots of room for going in and out. It’s very well made with great attention to detail, and the value for the price is outstanding. There’s room in the storage bag to include my house wrap footprint. This was a stellar find. Thanks, RCP!

Love this tent this is my third one of this stile that I have purchased. This tent is light and tuff. Would highly recommend this tent.

I bought this tent for rafting. I was looking for an affordable tent that I could set up on my raft. I wish I could post a picture of it on the boat. I was very pleased with the ease of setting up and taking down everyday. It also worked well in bad weather even though I failed to add extra waterproofing beforehand. I also use the trekking poles consistently and love them. Great product, great price, highly recommend.

I went on a fall elk hunting trip to Colorado and was loaned the Trekker Tent 1. It was a great tent and I was super impressed in it’s quality and easy of setup. The first time I pitched the tent was on the trail and I was the first finished in my hunting party. I used the vestibule to store my pack and shoes under. I recently purchased one for myself and it was shipped and arrived before scheduled.

  27. Brian Baker

I have owned this tent for a little over a year now. I have used it on numerous backpack trips. The concept is really good, as not having any poles to carry and only being a single wall tent, reduces the weight. I cut out a custom ground sheet from a cheap tarp, and it works great. I love the vestibule on this thing as well. Large enough to store my 65L Kelty on the left side, and still have plenty of room to get in and out.
The biggest complaint I have about this tent, is the walls are angled too low. I am 5’10” and my feet touch the wall at the far end and my head almost touches the wall at the head end. I have not been in any storms with this tent, so I dont know about the waterproof ability. I say it may leak where you touch the sides, so that would not be a good deal.
The seams are all taped nicely, and of course, I did spray the tent down with silicone waterproofing when I first got it.
If the walls were a little steeper angled to keep ones feet/head from touching them, it could easily be a 5* tent! As it is very lightweight, and takes just a few minutes to set up.

I received a replacement trekker tent 1 replacement 2021. Do you still recommend spraying the fabric with a water proofing? The sealing of seams has greatly improved, What is the tent fabric made of? Have you changed it from earlier tent fabric?
    Thank you

First saw Trekker Tent 1.0 on Over 55 Backpacking on Facebook. Decided to look into. After looking over description and very reasonable price decided to purchase. I was impressed by the company as I believe the tent was shipped the day ordered. I am impressed with the paperwork that comes with the tent and suggestions including about waterproofing tie outs even though all the seams are taped. After waterproofing, set up the tent and sprayed with hose to double check. All is well. As the description states, the tent is very easy to setup. I usually use a hammock. However, this lightweight tent with very good interior space will serve me well when trees are not available. I also purchased the carbon FOLDABLE hiking sticks as they are so handy and easily fit in a suitcase.
I look forward using the tent. And in three weeks will take hiking sticks to Greece. Never know when the opportunity for a hike will pop up.

I purchased the River Country Trekker 1 in July 2018….. I have used it many times…. Have been very pleased with it…. The Trekker 1 is well made durable light weight and roomy….. The front vestibule is very big compared to most one person tents….. And the sleeping tub is big enough for a six footer….
I was recently reading customer reviews of Trekker 1 and realized that River Country has made several improvement since my original purchase….
The first picture is of the rear 2018 model…. The rest of the pictures show the 2022 version I recently recieved…. The biggest improvement between the newer model is the addition of a zipper and second guide line at the rear of the tent…. By unzipping the zipper and rolling up the flaps the ventilation is much improved…. Additionally the second guideline and a triangle of fabric connecting the sleeping tub to the back wall has fixed the problem of the back wall flopping against the mosquito netting….
River Country also improved the taping along the seams of the trekker 1…. It’s wider and better applied… The tent pegs are designed to be much more robust…..
River Country is also honest with their customers…. Recommending that the buyer add additional seam sealer before using the tent… I sealed the seams on the inside and sprayed a silicon water repellent on the outside….
At right around 50$ the Trekker 1 is an economic alternative to much more expensive tents…. The cost of seam sealer is more than offset by the low price of the tent….
Best of all…. River Country replaced my old Trekker 1 with the new model for FREE…. Now that’s customer service!!!!
Any company that stands by it’s product like that and is so conserned with customer satisfaction…. Has my business for life…. I immediately bought River Country’s flease blanket and was glad I did…. As a sleeping bag liner it kept me warm at 30 degrees in a bag rated for 40….
River Country is a small company…. That specializes in providing quality products at prices well below what the average outdoors equipment outfitter charge…..

The tent is constructed of a durable materials and is of good quality. The tent is easy to setup. It was a good purchase for my needs very happy.

I have really loved this tent. Hiking with my twin sons can be challenging but this tent’s light weight feel and easy set up, it’s been very nice to have on hand for myself and the wife. I am going to be buying my boys their own once they’re carrying their own gear! I recommend this tent for anyone who is traveling with a dog, their family or long distance, it’s great.

  33. Graal (verified owner)

Got my order very quickly, I did not get to test it out yet though. I was looking for a budget lightweight tent for future trips. Aliexpress had very similar trekking tents at around the same price. But this one seemed to have better overall fabrics, construction and ventilation. Can’t wait to use it.

  34. JB

I can’t find anything I don’t like about this tent. Extremely lightweight, very compact, AFFORDABLE, big/roomy, great vestibule and super easy to set up. I am very pleased with the value this brings me. I’d buy 10 of these before buying a $500 tent with the same amenities.

  35. Lance

I’m planning on doing a few short multi-day hikes and didn’t want to spend a ton of money for something I may or may not use a lot. Buying lightweight good gear on a budget sure is a challenge. I ordered the trekker tent 1.0 because I like a vestibule on my tents and this one has a large one. First time setting it up went quick and I did it on a windy day with no issues. I bought the package deal that came with trekking poles and the poles seem to be well made and sturdy. I’ll probably end up buying a couple more of their tents just to try them out.

  36. Frank Fiorucci

This tent is exactly as advertised and works great. I love how light it is and most importantly the customer service was amazing. Well played River Country Products!

  37. Ruben Luna (verified owner)

Bought this tent for a backcountry elk hunt. This tent was light and worked perfectly for the trip. Great Product!

  38. Chase Terry (verified owner)

I recently purchased this tent to take on a hunting trip. It’s very lightweight and easy to set up. I have family members who recommended this tent. They really like theirs!

  39. Kelly

I purchased this one man tent as an upgrade to a stuffy poorly stitched Walmart “backpacking” tent. There is a lot more ventilation and the material is much heavier. That said this tent weights a pound less and has a larger vestibule. I found one area where the stiching isn’t perfect and one zipper is a bit sticky. Overall I am satisfied.

  40. DOUG CHRISTIANSON

This is a very well made tent. It is very roomy, easy to setup and did very well on a 5 day hike on the Ice Age trail. I love the fact that it has a vestibule for keeping gear and shoe out of the rain.

  41. Dave Stoddard

I was looking for a lightweight and cost effective alternative for backpacking. This tent fit the bill. Setup was simple and it’s really a well made tent with extremely good airflow. The seams are tape sealed on the interior. I did follow the manufacture suggestions and sealed the seams with the recommended seam sealant. A great budget friendly tent. Looking forward to many years of use.

This is my 2nd RCP tent. I bought a Trekker Tent 3 about a year ago. I was so happy with it, When I was looking for a small tent to take to the bottom of the Grand Canyon there was only one choice. The Trekker 1 has been the easiest tent for set-up and take-down of any tent I have ever set-up
(since I started camping in the early 70s) I love this Tent!

  43. Amber Vanderheide

Used a tarp before but it had some shortcomings. 1. For the configuration I felt comfortable in I needed 2 trekking poles. 2. It took some time to set up. 3. I did not had a ground plan, and needed an extra tarp for that. So looked around and found this great tent. Did some research and overall it came out good enough to give it a try. Glad I did, and only regret I have is that I didn’t found/used this tent earlier. Instead of 2 trekking poles it only uses one. Which in my case is ideal, as I only use a trekking pole for man tracking (SAR), and thus can leave one at home. It is set up in no time. Did some setting up, taking down runs with it to familiarize myself with the tent. And each time it went a little faster and easier. I can now set the tent up in just about a minute. Something which to me is important if needed to set it up during bad weather. And it not only comes with a floor plan, but with netting also. Which gives it a good barrier from the elements and bugs/critters. I’m 6’2” and I still had plenty of room at my feet and head to be comfortable. And it is wide/roomy enough too to have my dog (Belgium Malinois) in the tent as well. The vestibule is big enough to stow my backpack (Mardingtop 65L molle) under one side, and still be able to comfortably enter the tent itself. Did spray the tent with silicone spray inside and out, and used seam sealer, as well as (although not necessary) replaced all the lines for 550 cord. If one takes care of ones equipment (in this case waterproofing the tent), your equipment will take care of you (in this case keep you dry and sheltered from the elements).

  44. Jared Matthews

I love my trekkers 1 tent. Its lightweight and really easy to set up. Best tent I’ve ever owned

  45. Donald Hobson (verified owner)

I purchased 2 of these tents as Birthday gifts for my sons. I like the versatility, quality and value of the these lightweight tents. Great for backpacking.

  46. J G

This is a neat little tent. Fits nicely in a pack and didn’t leak. Can be a little saggy compared to a tent with poles. I was was working with a small clearing with some rocky spots, so getting the lines right was a little tricky at first but I made it work. Overall a good buy.

  47. Nathan Zwiefel (verified owner)

Another great tent by RCP. This is my 3rd tent purchase through RCP and could not be happier. The Trekker Tent 1 is extremely fast and easy to setup. I’m 5’9” at 160lbs and this has plenty of room stretch out without hitting the walls. This tent has multiple ways adjust for ventilation from little to no draft to open and star gazing. The vestibule has more than enough room for your pack and boots/shoes (or your dog). The vestibule would also be great for cooking in if it were to rain. Also dont forget to get yourself a good waterproofing spray, and use it at a minimal of once a year, and dont complain your putting $5-6 dollars into a great quality tent that RCP has made, as you should do this to all your tents. Thanks RCP!

I’m used to two person tents because I like my gear in the tent, this tent is big enough to put my gear inside and is smaller and lighter than the two person tents that I normally use. It is easy to put up, I put it up on a windy day (30 to 40 mph) and had no problems. It also did not flatten out in the wind like other one pole tents that I have seen do. the only problem I had was the floor flattened out on the ends. I am sure some of it was user error; however it did not flatten to the point that it made the tent too small for me. It was still very roomy.

  51. Scott (verified owner)

I like this tent a lot. The quality is very good, setup is easy, and I like that only a single trekking pole is needed. The vestibule is great and versatile for either side being open, helps channel air flow into the tent as desired. Happy with purchase. This is actually my third shelter purchase from RCP and pleased with all of them, so this speaks to the consistency of quality.

  52. Konstantin (verified owner)

    The tent is really lightweight.
And if you replace the aluminum pegs from the profile with hooks, you can further reduce the weight.
It is a pity that the tent is supplied in a regular bag and not in a compression one. But this is also easily solved.

  53. Bob

I’m a life long backpacker, and the last couple of years I’ve started bike packing. I spend a lot of time in the woods. I’ve pretty much run the full gambit of one man biveys, and tents. In my experience most of them would make better green houses than shelters because of the condensation build up. Some condensation is unavoidable in certain conditions, but I have to say, this one is as well vented as you can get.
I’ve always been drawn to the lodge pole tent design, because they shed the rain, snow, and wind better that the average tent. I set this one up the day it came in just in time to catch a pretty good spring thunderstorm. Only about a half inch of rain, but 56 mile an hour wind gusts. It weathered the storm perfectly. I stayed dry and comfortable. I will seam seal it at some point just to be on the safe side.
I was very impressed with the structural design, and reinforced tie down points. You would have to pay $250-$400 to find a tent of this quality anywhere else. I purchased the tent , ultralight carbon trekking pole combo. Love the 6oz trekking poles, and the fine tuning tension adjusters.
I can honestly say that I’ve never been disappointed with any of my purchases from RCP.

  54. Kenneth Cook

    These tents are great!
I have used these tents in the bottom of the Grand Canyon to the highest mountain in VA in temperatures below 12* and major winds. Each tent is very simple to setup and pack away.
The tent material is 195T 75D polyester with a 2000mm PU coating and the seams are taped. Which I find stronger and better than the expensive backpacking tents on the market.
Easy set-up using one trekking pole. If you forget a trekking pole you can easily use a stick cut to size or just tie off to a tree or bush which I’ve done and works great. Being able to stake down these tents and having plenty of tie offs these tents are secure in all weather. I keep extra guyline in my backpack to use if needed to tie off to trees and sometimes you may find that you can’t get a ground stake in, I used guyline to tie into stake loop them wrap around a rock to which holds corner of tent in place.
A lot of the expensive backpacking tents are free standing which I’ve seen in some winds blowing across the campsites.
I have zero complaints with this tent.
    The ventilation is great!
The materials and the seams are impressive and great quality. The zippers operate properly and easily.
When using the Trekker 1, I’m thinking of using a poncho or a small ground cover in the vestibule area just to keep dirt and leaves covered. The Trekker 1 uses only one trekking pole and the center height is 48″ which is nice to have that head room. It has plenty of comfortable sleeping room and your backpack and shoes or boots can be stored inside of the vestibule. The Trekker 1 weighs only 2lbs 13oz, it’s 90 inches long and 38 inches wide in the sleeping area, I’m 6ft 1 and have plenty of room. The sleeping area has a tub flooring and is screened to protect you from bugs. It has plenty of ventilation. I have zero complaints on this tent.
    I highly recommend this product.
River Country Products has quickly responded to my questions. They are a small company and with my experience, they care about you and making sure that you have a great product.

Great little tent with an unbeatable price point. Plenty of room for me and enough room to store gear out of the weather.

Very nice feeling tent. Not too small, not too big, either. I can’t wait to take.it on an extended camping trip. The shipping was very fast as well. Thank you RCP

Where to start, I like this tent because of its multiple ways it can be pitched. Its roomy enough for 1 and gear. So easy to pack with its size. Would like to see future generations of this tent come in different color options (Coyote Brown,Camo) As for customer service, i would give 10 Stars! Look forward to many more purchases, and will be on the lookout for new products!

Great little tent. Served me well on Maui. Recently upgraded to the Trekker 4 for some car camping with the wife and dogs this summer

Not a bad tent for the price. Really lightweight! I’ve only set this up in my backyard so far. Maybe another review as I try it in the field.
A little bummed by the vent options when it’s all zipped up. I wish the vent in the top was a little different. I like how the opposite side of the main entrance has a small zipper. I hope that offers a bit more ventilation. The vestibule offers plenty of space. Inside the tent is a great size for 1 person. The foot and head could use a little extra room. Just need to try and set up the strings to offer enough tension.

I bought the two person Trek tent last fall and it was so well made, that I bought a solo tent for Christmas for my son, so he can backpack on his own with his buddies. It takes a little longer to figure out how to set the solo tent up with only one treking pole, so try it out in your yard first.  Once you have the guy lines properly adjusted, it is really simple to set up and has plenty of room for solo camping.  Both the RCP tents have ample room for an adult to sit up inside for dressing without rubbing the tent walls. These are the best tents I have seen for the money. All the seams are well stitched and the stuff sack has ample room to easily repack the tent. I used a can of Kiwi Camp Dry to fully coat the seams and body of the tent, just to be sure there were no leaks. The treking poles are well made and cut down the weight of the tent in your backpack.  Well done River Country Products!

Just got this tent and I had to take it for a quick winter campout to try it out. It was a bit tough at first to get the stakes to hold in the snow but in the end I was able to set it up and get it properly tensioned and it held up through the wind and snow that night. It’s nice and roomy on the inside and there was plenty of room under the vestibule for all of my backpacking gear which I really appreciated. Overall it’s a great little tent, I’m looking forward to taking it on all of my backpacking trips.

Awesome tent. I use it for bikepacking. Lightweight and packs small. Also use the sleeping bag and air mattress from River Country Products. They also are lightweight and pack small. Great affordable products.

I felt compelled to write a review of my River Country Trekker Tent 1.0. It is a great tent and has exceeded all my expectations of a 50-dollar tent. I know there have been some less than positive reviews by a few individuals on YouTube and other platforms and I question their motives. Let me assure anyone thinking about buying one of these River Country tents they are of the best quality and design for the price. I have owned many small one and two person tents over my life as I am 55 years old and this one by far is the best. You cannot expect a 50-dollar tent to have the same materials as a 500-dollar tent, so it is not fair to compare them against each other. As I said I am very happy with my River Country Trekker Tent 1.0. When I set out to go camping, I simply reapply a heavy dose of a water proofing agent on all of the tent surfaces. In addition, I always bring a lightweight tarp in case of severe weather. The additional tarp provides just one more layer of protection against the cold and rain when needed. This is all expected with a lightweight 50-dollar tent. I could go on and on about how satisfied I am with my tent but you all get the point that it is a great tent for the price.

  64. Shane

This tent is Awesome! I used it on a 7 day backcountry bow hunt in Colorado and it performed excellent. One of the best tents I have owned.

  65. Daniel Martin

Very impressed with this little tent. Goes up very fast, surprisingly roomy inside. I was surprised how thick the fabric was, expecting something more flimsy at this weight and price point, but it seems very solid and likely to last many seasons with care and good storage.

  66. Phillip (verified owner)

Great little tent! Packs up small and light and goes up fast. Very roomy (can squeeze in two comfortable if need to) and great vestibule design. When backpacking with dry bag backpacks and two people, there is plenty of room for my dog under the vestibule. I left it out for a 3 day cold front with 3+inches of rain and 40 mph winds and it stayed dry the whole time.

Delivered to Connecticut in 4 days from purchase with free shipping from Washington! Ridiculously easy to set up. I got the package with trekking poles. This has so much more room than the Stansport pup tent that I have been using for motorcycle camping. Given that I have the ability to use the trekking pole, a line tossed over a branch or just fashioning a pole from an appropriately sized branch makes a world of difference when packing the bike up for a weekend trip. I’m 6’1”, 240 and this is great length and width wise and being able to sit up with my legs outside or inside the tent is amazing. It makes getting in and out much more comfortable. And the vestibule is a great bonus so that I can keep my boots dry easier. I ride a lot throughout New England and I often wake up to freshly rained on gear. I am also looking to do more overnight hikes next year and I’m getting to a point in life where I need to have trekking poles to do the longer ones and this setup hit everything on the checklist.

I received my Trekker 1 and WOW !. Granted I only used it once so far, it is an awesome tent. I went for an overnighter this past weekend and used it for the first time…straight out of the box it was easy to set up and take down. The folding of the tent took me a minute, but went right back in the stuff sack. This weekend was a windy drizzly day and I stayed dry and warm all weekend. I am going to use some Camp dry on it before the next outing, but that is because I do that with all my tents. It is the same quality of my other tent but cost a quarter of the price. Way to go RCP, I thank you and my wallet thanks you too.

I Ordered the Trekker 1 on a Wednesday, shipped the next day and received it on Saturday, that is very fast for “Free” shipping because most places it takes 7 – 10 days. Let me say that this tent is super easy to set up, you don’t even need directions and a single person can set it up in under five minutes. However, it does require a learning curve to get set to optimal performance and I am still learning new tricks to set it up.
I did a first rain test without any waterproofing spray and I noticed the rain seeping into the material and not totally beading it off like it should. One panel beaded water like it should while the others did not. All though all seams are taped and there was one small leak at a seam and some moisture in a couple corners. Also water was seeping in where the back panels were touching the bugnet , not a real big deal but it was a problem. Another problem was where the hiking pole came in contact with top of tent, again, water was seeping in there and running down the inside of the tent and pole.
After this test, I sprayed it with 303 Fabric Guard but price may be overkill for the performance. In my opinion, the Atsko (orange top) at Walmart is the best buy and works very well, I have used it on other tents and seems to work better than the 303.
When spraying, go by the directions on the can and spray some extra coats on all seams, especially the top where the pole goes, I sprayed three or four coats on the top peek.
This final rain test was in the rains of Hurricane Sally which fell on the Trekker 1 well over 12 hours, rain started about 4:30pm and stopped about 2:00pm the next day, It wasn’t a hard and heavy rain but it was moderate to hard all night and morning. I climbed in the tent and found that the underside of all single walls were wet but not dripping, possibly from condensation. As four corner were dry as a bone and there was absolutely no water found on the floor of the tent.
In my opinion, this is a well made tent that when sprayed with good waterproofing spray, it should be waterproof. However, I would recommend using a tarp over tent when camping in rain, it would help keep it drier and cleaner inside. The floor is made of thick material and should last a while but a foot print is advisable to help with excessive wear.
I have given it 4 stars because of the extra work and money needed to make it waterproof but over all, it is a great tent for the money, I would not hesitate to buy another tent from the company as they stand behind their products.

I just bought a second Trekker Tent 1! I was so impressed with the first one, that I bought a second for my son. Now we can set up across from each other and put a fire in between the tents. This is by far the best backpacking tent for the money and the weight is perfect at 2.5 pounds. The tent is heavy duty enough to withstand years of abuse and is very easy to set up in various ways (center pole or ridge line). The tent arrived before expected and in perfect condition. You should really consider this tent and company. Great job River Country Products!

Awesome product. Awesome company!! I ordered the trekker 1. There was a problem with the post office shipping (not river country’s fault) I emailed river country on a Saturday evening and received a response from Hunter in sales in 20 minutes!! Great small company with a solid product! Tent is waterproof, light, and easy to set up, very quality material. Especially the stakes.

I had this tent for two years until I just recently lost it in a early-season snowstorm in Colorado a tree fell on my tent and I had to get out except for the tree falling down and smashing through my tent I really loved that tent. I just ordered a new one and I already have it in the mail I highly recommend this tent to anybody going out on their own or in a group and just want their own tent it’s lightweight and durable.

Just received mine last week and used it this weekend. Nice n’ lightweight for carrying and super easy to set up and then pack away. Very satisfied for the purchase and price point.

Such a great solution, design, and weight for such a great price. I set the tent up to test and seal the seams and saw they were already taped. What a great surprise and treat! Have done the backyard thing a couple times with the kids and can’t wait to take this out in a few weeks for the real thing. Thank you, River Country Products. Will be back for more for sure.

  75. Oleksii Gubanov

The inner stitches are sealed! If you are a beginner, look no further. If you are experienced, save money! You just cannot complain about price/quality ratio.

  76. Billy

Loved this tent when it first came in the mail and I pitched it up in my backyard. On on my trip, a moderate shower completely soaked me. When I tried to scotchgard the tent, I noticed a few seams’ stitching was coming loose. Very unfortunate.

  77. Andrea Silfies (verified owner)

Was here before I expected it, fits perfect in my pack, and the first time I set it up was in the dark with a head lamp and it still only took about five minutes. Great buy for the price!

  78. Tim thompson

Great light weight tent perfect for starting off with ,using with waterproof tarp over it which is also light weight. Excatly what i was looking for a small easy set up tent thats light weighr look forward to trying out their other products

  79. Aaron Chamberlin

This is my first time using a trekking poll style tent I’ve always use freestanding double wall Tents backpacking and hunting. I’ve been looking for a single wall trekking poll tent that I wasn’t going to have to spend all my savings on. This tent is great at 50 bucks it’s not without its flaws. it has exceeded my expectations though. This tent does need to be seemed sealed and waterproofed.

  80. John Schneider

Exactly what I needed and received no defects well made and fits me great. I’m suspending the tent on a ridge line and a survival tarp over the line and Finland poles for no tie outs to trip on. Works great! “I’ll be back”.

  81. Matt Martinsky

Good tent for the price, my only issue is that I felt a little cramped at 6’2 and a bigger guy. But otherwise it was perfect for my trip hiking in southern Indiana.

  82. Dan DeSimone

Just got my Trecker 1 tend and cant believe that the company has asked for a review to get a review gift. Tent kit A is 3 additional stakes Guide line kit and a repair kit, these things should be included, not bribed to get, you cant set up the tent without the 3 additional stakes and the guide kit. Also the directions say spray down with water proofing first , to help with condensation, you would think if this is needed the company would do it. Other then that the tent looks OK for the price. Hope the company takes my suggestions.

  83. Michael Sand (verified owner)

Used this tent a few weeks ago. It rained and snowed. The tent did great with no leaks. Would definitely recommend it.

  84. Chris Thompson (verified owner)

I purchased the Trekker 1 based on price, written reviews and seeing some reviews online (especially from Restless Wonderer – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsOBHvkLO-Y&t=368s). I was looking for an affordable trekking pole tent to be lighter and smaller than my prior tent. It met both of those criteria.

The tent was easy and quick to pitch to standing and sturdy but does takes a few times to get a great pitch where all 4 corners are up where they should be if you have not had a trekking pole tent before (at least from my experience). After reaching out to customer service (which were great by the way) on my concerns from after pitching it the first time they gave some great advice, even included some pictures, and I am happy to say on my first trip I was able to pitch the tent very well.

I also purchased the trekking poles and that was a game changer for the speed and length I could hike. They worked great and were light as well.

Now the only thing I wish they had was a 40 liter pack, which would be perfect for the weekend backpacker and the lightweight tent and other products for backpacking they provide.

I am excited for many more backpacking trips as I get started in this awesome hobby.

I would recommend this tent for anyone starting out (like myself).

  85. Brand

The tent is small and lightweight thus making it easy to manipulate in my pack but that is where the convenience ends because the honest primary function of tent is to keep the rain out and this tent came leaking. River country recommend buying a can of spray for $5 when all they had to do was put more seam tape on seems that are exposed to the rain. a product should come ready to go this one isn’t.

  86. Reverend

Hiked the whole PCT with it. Worked great, would recommend.

  87. SHANE

I read a few negative reviews on this tent from different platforms. It was stated that condensation was a problem, it leaked, the netting was insufficient for mosquitoes. Condensation affects all tents when they are all closed up. It’s a single wall tent which means no barrier between you and the tent fabric to save weight. Sleep with it wide open when it’s not raining. The seams on the floor and where the netting and tent meet are taped very well. Get some seam sealer and apply it to the rest of the tent on the outside, yeah it looks ugly, but it doesn’t leak at all. Also use a water guard spray to make than rain water slide off like a freshly waxed car. The netting is plenty small enough to keep out mosquitoes, look real close. Ventilation through the tent when opened and the back rolled up is very good for the tent design. I’m very happy with these little tents. I bought Two.

  88. Aaron

I discovered this on the eBay store while shopping for a replacement for an older backpacking tent with a broken pole. I was skeptical, but at this price and with a decent warranty and good reviews, I figured “why not?” I finally got around to setting it up in the back yard a few days ago, and was immediately impressed with the quality of materials and construction. I treated it with Camp Dry that afternoon and figured I’d leave it up and test it out that night. After 4 hours of comfy slumber, I was awoken by a nice midnight thunderstorm, with driving rain, high winds and everything. Perfect timing for a test run! Everything stayed nice and dry after I closed the vestibule, and it was reassuringly stable in the wind. I used all the guy lines to get it nice and taught beforehand. The size and weight of this tent are just right. I’m 6’2″ and have more than enough room. Tip: use the guy lines on either end, strung over an upright stick to pull out and up for maximum interior space! I’ve never used an expensive ultralight tent before, but this budget one is as good or better than any conventional backpacking tent in the $150-$250 range that I’ve used, and quite a bit lighter.

  89. Matthew Perrault (verified owner)

Buying and shipping was a breeze. I wanted to give this this tent a fair review so I waited till I could get out and sleep a night in it. I was planning on tying the tent up to a limb, but apon set up I ended up just using sturdy stick (you don’t need trekking poles). I just eyeballed the length and made sure the end wasn’t sharp. It worked perfectly. The tent was very sturdy after I got the sides and door staked down. That was one thing I was worried about with no frame work in this tent. Condensation wasn’t an issue at 35 deg. with the top air vent pulled open. The tent isn’t huge on the inside but it fit me, a 6′ guy and my stuff with no problem.

  90. James McIntire

This tent is great for people looking for a good backpacking tent at a reasonable price. I read many reviews before I made this purchase and learned that River Country does listen to their customers. All seams and stitching are taped throughout the tent. As per recommendation, I did use waterproofing spray inside and out. I read many reviews that the tub/sleeping area wasn’t that big. I am 5’10” and with my feet at one end, I can just touch the other with my arm extended over my head. I always want a good night sleep so I use a wide 4″ mattress. With the mattress and pillow there is still plenty of room over my head, and plenty of room on the sides of the mattress. The vestibule can easily store a large pack and then some. With the ease of setup and setup options, this is a comfortable and versatile tent at only 2.5lbs.

  91. Maverick Hendrix (verified owner)

Quick, light, and seamsealed! Ready to go! The best hands down for 50 bucks.

  92. Melody (verified owner)

I am very impressed with the quality of this tent. It is pretty easy to set up. I really like the large vestibule area. I am only 5’2 so it has plenty of space for me and my backpack inside. I don’t really like so many guy lines, but the 2 side ones seem like they don’t have to be used. It is a little difficult to get it folded back down to the size it came, but maybe with practice. Overall very happy with this purchase.

  93. Patric Whitsett

This is exactly what I was looking for. I camp with my dog and I needed something just big enough for the two of us. This tent is a no-brainer now that I’ve found it.

  94. JUSTIN

Arrived fast, I set it up to inspect and I’m throughly impressed, really great value , an awesome little tent that can compete with big name tent makers.

Just received my tent in the mail today. As a beginning backpacker I wanted something well made and lightweight without having to spend a ton of money on. I set the tent up in my backyard and was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to put up and the overall quality of the tent. There seemed to be a little more sagging of the backside mesh than I would like, but it is definitely not a deal breaker and maybe with more practice putting it up it will get better. I haven’t yet seam sealed or sprayed it but plan to soon. Well worth the forty dollars!!

  96. Mike C

Could not be more impressed with the quality to cost ratio. A top notch 1-person backpacking tent.

  97. Elisha Mullins

My wife purchased this for me this Christmas, and I cannot over state how much higher quality it is than what I expected for the price. I usually camp with a single tarp set up, but in MO during the summer months this isn’t really an option thanks to ticks/deadly spiders, so this is the perfect option. Light weight, easy to pack, easy to set up, and as long as you’re ventilating it well/follow the waterproofing instructions the condensation won’t be an issue at all. I would happily recommend this to anyone looking for a small lightweight option for backpacking!

  98. Patrick (verified owner)

For the price, weight, and build quality, absolutely no tent beats this one. I could not be happier with the provided resource sheet that came with the tent. It even added a bit of comedy! Overall, fantastic product.

  99. Mark Tennier

Great tent for price due to quality and weight. Carried it for a potential spike camp option on an elk hunt. Stuff sack has plenty of room to also include a ground tarp, which I kept in the bag. Weight/price ratio could not be beat, not even close to other tent manufacturers. It beats just using a tarp in an area that has insects and snakes.

  100. Camie (verified owner)

I just received this tent and I am super excited to try it out! I did a quick practice set up in the backyard and found it was very quick and easy to set up. I think I will do a few more dry-runs to make sure I know exactly what I’m doing and get all they guy-lines right before I actually take it out on the trail.

I can’t yet speak to durability, but it seems as strong, if not stronger than my original tent, which I’ve been using for more than two years. Same for water resistance, but I plan to follow the manufacture’s and other reviewers’ advice, using seam seal and water proofing on it before I take it out.

I feel very confident that if there does happen to be an issue with the tent, River Country Products will address and resolve the issue immediately!

Overall, my previous tent cost me around $90, so for half the price, I cut my tent weight in half, while adding versatility, floor space, and height, so again, super excited!

  101. Michael Owens (verified owner)

Ok so I set this tent up in my yard and was really impressed with it for 40 dollars! All the seams had good stitching and they were taped. I did spray the tent and put seam sealer on it just to be on the cautious side. Lots of room for a 1 man tent and the weight was great. My only complaint would be the screen back wall was a little droopy. I think a cord from the screen to the back tie out would fix it and not add much weight and make it seem even roomier in the tent.

  102. Kimberly A’Hearn

I have only been out on 1 night stays cant wait to take my 2 week trip with this tent. I have been in no rain yet how ever I have spread it with sealer an seam sealed so hope I am going to stay dry my only concern is the floor pan is not very deep. I did have an issue with the tent I contacted customer service by email they were very quick to answer and took care of the problem very quickly so thank you.

  103. Jennifer Solem

This is an update to my review from July, I just got back from using this tent on the SHT, it was terrible weather, rain, snow, sleet, winds somewhere around 15-20 miles, temps in the upper 20’s. This tent performed excellent! I had absolutely no leaking, I had seamsealed and waterproofed prior, there was a bit of condensation inside but nothing came in from outside. Sleet and snow fell all night and just slide right off, the vestibule area stayed dry also. I had no worries of it falling down, I pitch mine with my trekking pole tight and it didn’t even wobble. This tent preformed far better than I initially expected. Definitely a great tent and at the price it would be hard to beat!!

  104. Megan McDermott (verified owner)

As an experienced backpacker, my switch to bikepacking required me to find a tent that was not only light, but that was small and could fit in my panniers. Since I knew I would have a pole with me, I decided to try out this tent and see if it would do the trick on an upcoming tour.

This was my FIRST time using a trekking pole tent. There is definitely a learning curve. I was really glad i took the time to set it up in advance. I had a difficult time getting a taught pitch and found myself frustrated at the pole falling over, but that is due to no fault in the design of the tent, only it was my own learning curve. I would have appreciated some more instructions on how to place the trekking pole (I found from trial and error and some images I found in the reviews that helped– the best method seemed to be placing it outside the tent where the three zippers on the mesh door meet) and how to run the guide lines. I found that getting a taught pitch with only the stakes and lines included to be almost impossible. Like I said, it took a lot of trial and error to get it taught to where water will not pool on the tent if you happen to get into a rainstorm. I did practice with several pitches and after adding several more lines and stakes, I finally got it to a place where I felt confident in the tension and ventilation. I did, from there, try it out in a downpour and was pretty happy with the results. I will be following the recommendation of waterproofing the tent just to cut down on condensation. But I stayed mostly dry and happy inside!

If you’re on a budget this tent is a great lightweight option. Trekking pole tents are difficult in general so DO take the time to play with it before you find yourself in the backcountry (as you should with any tent) and consider some extra stakes and lines to make your life a lot easier!

  105. Jeff

This was a great purchase. I set this tent up in minutes the first time. I slept in it two nights in a row then disassembled and packed in minutes with no issues. I am 5’11” 192 lbs and have plenty of room in this tent. I love that it has the extra canopy room out front. This extra space is large enough for my 75 liter pack to fit and I still have room to get in and out. As a test I set it up in wet grass without a tarp underneath and had no moisture migration thru the bottom of the tent. I still need to test in the rain before I go on my two week elk hunt but am confident it will pass this test too. Can’t beat this tent for the price!!

This product is great. Lightweight, roomy for 1 man, big vestibule area. Easy setup and tear down. I recommend this to any hunter on a budget!!

Picked this tent up for backpack hunting , first impression is it seems to be well made. set up is fast and to the point. I seam sealed all the seams and will be applying spray water proofing once it arrives. I’m 6’2” and fit in the tent fine. Plenty of room for my pack and gear outside of the sleeping area. All and all good buy and cant beat the price

At an age of 70 I am not ready to give up backpacking, but I am ready to give up some of the weight. After search a variety of options I was delighted to find the Trekker Tent 1. It is perfect for my needs. On my first night out I got to test it at 10,500 ft in a high mountain thunder storm. I stayed dry and snug, even without any additional seam sealer applied. Perhaps my favorite feature is the roomy stuff sack. it easily accomodates both the tent and my ground cloth. I don’t have to fight to squeeze the tent into a stuff sack that is too small. This is a great tent and a great value. I look forward to many more trips with it.

This little tent is awesome. Comparable to any of the high end tents that cost hundreds. I set it up and ran my sprinklers on it all night and it stayed dry inside. Can’t wait to get it out this year!

Great tent, I will be using it for backpack hunting this fall. I have other MSR , Marmot, and Mountain Hardware tents and am choosing to take this tent camping this year as it is the lightest and no need for me to carry additional metal tent poles.

Best tent on the market for the money. Very well pleased with my purchase.

3.42minutes out of the bag to set up! So fast and easy and lightweight! This tent is awesome! I was a little worried it might be a little claustrophobic but surprisingly it is has a very open feeling with the mesh walls. I find it to have good ventilation, even with the vestibules zipped. The seams are very nicely taped but did spray waterproof also, just because you should. Haven’t used it in the rain yet , so can’t say anything about that yet. The stakes are very light and do bend easily, but when going lightweight you are going to have that. Adding paracord loops helps to pull them out of the ground. I am 5’6 and find inside there is plenty of room for sleeping gear and pack. Also like that I can sit up straight and have head room. Overall I love this tent!!!

  118. Chris

Talk about bang for you buck! Bought this tent as a cheap starter tent, and was genuinely surprised with the quality. It is a little tight for me, but at 6’4 210 pounds I expected that. Love the spare room to house my gear outside of the sleeping area, but still under cover.

  119. Mark

I bought the single pole one man tent from amazon in April and didn’t set up until last week. As a precaution I seam sealed and waterproofed Sunday. Had a heavy rain storm last night and totally dry. For the weight and money it’s hard to beat. Thanks!

Thank you for a great product. Just returned from Philmont Scout Ranch and used my tent for 10 days. Philmont is located in Cimarron New Mexico. Easy to put up and take down quickly even in the rocky conditions.
Ventilation could be improved and I bent one of the red stakes while trying to get it into the hard ground….still worked out fine for me.
I will continue to use the tent on all my future treks. Thanks again and the price is right for a light-weight backpacking tent.

  121. Aaron Wing

Excellent tent for backpacking, color was wrong when received but the company gave me a 50% refund which is pretty nice of them will definitely be buying from them again very easy setup and lots of room for a one person tent could honestly fit two as long as you don’t mind being close

Amazing little backpacking tent! For the price, weight and quality you will not find anything better!

  123. Brian

Cousins and I are going on a little backpacking trip because one of them is going through a mid-life crisis. Did not want to lug around my big’ol 5 lbs car camping tent. I must have looked at a lot of different tents and watched countless backpacking videos. Now, I know who I am. I’m not going to backpack the PCT or AT. MAYBE go backpacking per season. Maybe do couple nights. Do I really need to drop over two hundred or even a hundred? Nope. This tent is exactly what I was looking for. I haven’t gone to the mid-life crisis trip yet, but I did set it up to play with it and it is super easy to set up and roomy. Can’t beat it for the value.

Great little tent! I have used it on 2 motorcycle trips
and 1 backpacking trip. A versatile tent anytime space
and weight matter! With the rear lower “vents” rolled up,
and 1 side of the front open, tent breathes well. I spent 1
night in a rainstorm with the tent Closed up tight, and did
experience condensation. As expected in those conditions!
BUT noticed no leaks from Rain water! Only Improvement
would be a short “tether” from rear mesh wall to outer fabric
to keep mesh from sagging inward.. Otherwise a 5 star tent!!

I decided to buy this tent for solo hikes after buying the Trekker 2.2 a few months earlier. Quality as expected: excellent for the price, and liked the great vestibule and the side venting option as well. Took it with me on a 5-day backpacking trip in Yosemite last month. Even when setting up camp in a snow-patched area, there were little or no condensation in the morning. Easy to set up and spacious enough for some gear and I (6″, 170 lbs). Added some paracord loops to the stakes for easy removal, and packed a San Pellegrino plastic bottle cap to use when pushing stakes in the ground if no rocks available.

  126. Kevin (verified owner)

Like the tent , construction seems sound, sprayed the inside and out waterproofing spray …looking forward to trying out soon

  127. Adam Cheever

Just purchased the Trekker 1 tent for my summer backpacking trip. Due to recent experience, having a tent with a large vestibule is a must and the Trekker 1 hits the mark perfectly. Tent is very well built and the weight is excellent (comparable to a Nemo Hornet). Only complaint is that the bug net for the back vent sags, which could be fixed by adding a stake loop in the middle of the back wall to pull it tight. Also was very happy to see that the stakes shipped with the tent were the light weight Aluminum stakes rather than the usual budget tent steel stakes.

  128. Steve (verified owner)

Nice quality tent — unbeatable for the price. Sets up fast and easy. Great roll-up instructions. Tent has to be really tight so it doesn’t sag. Internal mesh wall at rear of tent is hard to keep from sagging…but will deal with it.

Just received this little 1 man tipi along with the sleeping bag and sleep system everything looks and seems to well made and will hold up compared to my higher end sleep and shelter systems super excited to put it to the test some more elk and mule deer hunting in the Colorado high country first night I got it and set it up it was raining and windy held up great no complaints at all

I pre-ordered two of these when the company was awaiting materials. I figured it would be worth the wait until I needed them in the spring. I got one for my 10 year old son and myself for CubScouts. I finally used them this past weekend and they were great. It rained lightly and the tent remained dry inside. I had already tested them at home with the garden hose. I made a ridge line between two trees and a carabiner on each tent and we didn’t even use trekking poles. One ridge line-two tents. If you are not in the wide open you can leave the trekking poles at home and if you need one in an emergency just find a stick somewhere.—-SAL

Awesome tent. Reminds me of the Polish Lavvu tent I like so much, but way better engineering and way less weight. River Country Products keep making great outdoor adventure gear.

  132. Jeff Jordan

Very well made tents and a price you cant beat! Super fast shipping! Every question I asked before buying they answered quickly! I bought the Trekker 1 with no hesitation. Setup was a total breeze. Seams and corners are taped very good. Love the double vestibule and the ventilation is perfect. Plenty of room for one person and gear. With out looking at setup I had this tent up and ready.

  133. melvingunn21 (verified owner)

Very happy with my purchase so far. I wanted the trekker 2.2 for space but I really wanted the vestibule. However I still feel it’s more than enough room for one person plus gear. Great quality tent and perfect for backpacking. Highly recommend it.

  134. Joshua Scofield (verified owner)

I took this tent out for the first time on a quick overnight. I performed very well on a hotter then normal evening. You are able to get a nice amount of air flow for a trekking pole tent. This a great price for a good product.

  135. Mary (verified owner)

My Trekker Tent One was exactly what I was searching for! Very quick to set up, roomy enough for one, and quick to take down. I don’t backpack as often as I would like, but this is perfect for my weekend trips. My budget was limited, and I’m willing for forgo bells and whistles for lightweight and compact. Yes, I waterproofed all seams and have had no serious issues.

  136. Eric (verified owner)

Easily worth double the selling price. Great tent for 1 plus gear. The option to pitch from above in place of the single trekking pole is a great feature. Tent is light and packs up small, great for backpack use. Can’t ask for much more!

  137. GREG L.

Just set up my trekker pole tent for the first time and it was quick and easy. I bought the tent for kayak camping and I love the size and weight. Tent seems well made and I loved that the stake strings were set up and ready to go. I sprayed it with some waterproofing and i’m ready to go!

What a deal !!! I’ve tried everything over the last few years, a bivy sack with and without a tarp, an old pup tent that I used in the 90’s, a bivy “tent” and drop a lot money at REI trying to figure out what was worth it… This tent is!! The tent alone weighs-in at 2.5 lbs and 2.9 oz with stakes and stuff sack. Set it up this morning just to check it out, I see no problems with it whatsoever. Easy set up. Easy to get in and out of that is big deal after using bivy sacks and bivy tents and little bitty pup tents. It is a not a double wall tent BUT the way it is set up there should be little condensation in it. The stakes that come with it are excellent, going to add some cord to them to make it easier to pull them out of the ground!! I do recommend this tent!!!

  139. Gary Rogers (verified owner)

I set up this tent up for the first time today . Very impressed, well made tent. It is easy to set up, packs small and is light weight. Probably the best pole tent on the market for the money.

  140. Dennis G. (verified owner)

Can’t beat this tent for the price. Sure, I’ll seal the seams and add some camp dry spray, but out of the package, I’m impressed. Mi r will serve double duty as a lightweight pack tent on the occasional hikes with my son’s troop, and also as a pack tent when hunting remotely for the occasional overnight stay in the woods. Sure beats a bivy sack, and isn’t really any heavier!

  141. Dave

Awesome tent for the price and really easy to set up.
Things I would like to see are: a little less fabric around the back vent to tighten things up a bit. And also vented head and foot walls like the back.
    Once again cant beat it!

  142. April Jones (verified owner)

I love it it’s light easy to set up and the material seems much more durable than expensive light weight tents that cost hundreds more I just wish there was a 2 person 2 door version of this tent

  143. Gary Mertz (verified owner)

Things to rave about this tent so far. One I cut my shelter weight in half! Customer service has been top notch, prompt response to any questions I had, my order arrived in three days. I can’t wait for the lawn to dry out enough to pitch my new tent and really test it out!

  144. William R O’Regan (verified owner)

Great tent for the price. Gonna have to see how it does over time. Could use longer guys on a few points on the tent, especially on the vent. Seam sealed as recommended on new tents.

  145. Travis Royce (verified owner)

Highly recommend this light, packable tent! It’s working perfectly for backcountry scouting and hunting trips. Hardly adds any weight to the pack, and keeps me warm and dry. Pretty much a “no brainer” purchase for the price and quality.

Super excited about this tent easy to set up and is right in the weight area that I wanted. I will be doing business with them again if I upgrade to a bigger tent for more people.

  147. Kenny Hefflefinger (verified owner)

Tent Just arrived today. Quality seems great for the price. Very simple to set up. Soaked it with the hose and water beaded up like it’s supposed to. Just gonna seam seal it and apply another water barrier to tent for preventative measures. Can’t wait to use it thanks RCP for offer a quality product for a amazing price.

I have owned a lot of tents in my life. This Treker 1 is my favorite so far it has held up well to harsh weather it sets up well in forest as well in known open terrain. Light weight easy to set up. Thanks for making a great tent

  149. todd (verified owner)

For the money, a very well built tent. I have used a tarp so I had to get used to the confinement and lack of room for “stuff”. Still working on the condensation issue (to be fair I have condensation under tarp and all 4 side are off the ground) but raising the vent side with a piece of wood and not closing the doors seemed to help. I am also wondering if holding the upper vent open with something would help. Set up is as easy as setting up my tarp.

  150. Thom Robertson

Set a few times now it’s very easy to set up. But you start to learn a couple of tricks. I sprayed it with waterproofing inside and out, I probably didn’t have to but I always feel it’s a good idea. If you leave one of the front flaps open and place a couple stones Under the back wall to help open that Gap condensation is very very minimum. A five by seven footprint covers the sleeping area and creates what I call the front porch to store my gear and a place to take off my shoes. Warning check your shoes before you put your feet in them or you may end up stepping on a garden slug like I did they make a lot of goo yuck LOLOL

  151. Debbie Durren

Really nice tent. I set the tent up it was easy to set up and take down. It folds up and goes back in the sack with no problem at all. I’m 5’9″ and have more than enough room inside. I inspected all stitching before setting it up and it seems to be really well made. Fantastic tent for the price. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

  152. Willie-Joe Camara (verified owner)

Great little tent. Super light and compact. Plenty of room for a cofortable sleep and vestibule is big enough to keep your gear dry as well.

  153. Kris Gonzalez

It’s one the best tents I ever got it light and great for hunting and hiking it’s one of the best things I got

Received the tent 2 days after ordering, set it up 1st time in less than 3min & sealed the seams for good measure. Just got back from a 3night 4day backpack trip on the Pinhoti trl Talladega Nat Forest. 1st night windy & cold that 3rd night rain & cold. The tent impressed me how took the wind & rain some condensation on the rain night, to be expected. The stakes were a challenge in the rocky soil but wedging with some larger rocks solved that. The ease of set up & take down always had the tent 1st up & 1st packed. It also no sign of leaks after 8rs + of rain. Next I am ordering the Trekker Tent 2.2 to use when my wife goes with me. Thanks to everyone at RCP for providing quality affordable gear.

  155. R Bates (verified owner)

5 stars minus the light stakes the were a challenge in rocky soil but wedged with rocks worked well. Just got back from a 4day 3night backpack in Talladega Nat. forest. Cold & windy the 1st night & cold & raining the 3rd night. Little to no condensation the first 2nights last night I had some which is to be expected on cold Rainey nights, but no leaks,I did seam seal it before we left. I could not have been more pleased its performance in the weather or ease of set up & take down. I am now ordering the Trekker Tent 2.2 for when my wife goes with me. Thanks to everyone at RCP for providing quality affordable gear.

  156. Michael Sandau

Awesome tent, can’t beat it for the price! Only needs seams sealed in a few places and I plan on spraying it with camp dry. GREAT VALUE and outstanding craftsmanship! They are a company that’s doing things right!

  157. PaulJr (verified owner)

Used my new tent last weekend on a backpacking trip with my scout troop. The tent was an easy set up in the dark. I look forward to using it on many more trips to come.
I would recommend more ventilation and change the stakes so they are easier to put in the ground and take out again.

  158. Grant (verified owner)

Received the tent in less time than I was told, so that was great to start. Just set up the tent to waterproof it and it seems like great material. I’m 6’4″ and I fit in it just fine. Super light for backpacking and the price was killer especially since I already have trekking poles.

The only suggestion I have is to make the steaks with a flat head so they are easier to push in with the palm, but for the price I really can’t complain. This seems like a great buy!

  159. Cody Strong

This tent is definitely a 5 star tent minus its breathability. It’s not the end of the world, and I would certainly recommend it, but it’s something to keep in mind. I’ve used it 5 times in the last month on back country trips.

  160. James (verified owner)

I love this little tent. Well made and my mom said it’s cute.

  161. robert (verified owner)

this tent was just what I was looking for…..size—I am 6 ft tall and it has plenty of room to lay down and I can sit up comfortably …..weight—-very light weight even with my walking stick in the bag…..color—-blends well with the surroundings especially after the addition of a light weight camo tarp……set up and take down is very quick and easy …always a good thing …..I am very happy with this tent !

  162. Paul

Received this tent for my 62 birthday and love the fact my pack is now pounds lighter. The tent is easy to set up, sturdy and will do well on the AT.

  163. Sabrina

Great lil one person tent just what i needed! Have used innthe AT and the FT!

  164. Malcolm Whittaker

I love this little tent! Out of the bag it sets up within just a couple of minutes and if set up correctly it is very sturdy. The fabric is extremely water repellent however I did have to seam seal the vertical seams (which should always be done anyway) and it sheds water perfectly. I love the design and as with all of the River Country Products I have purchased – excellent quality, construction, and value. All of their products are top notch and the customer service is awesome! You can’t go wrong with River Country Products!
